Obituary of Mickey Dean Bowery

Mickey Dean Bowery, 64, of Rogersville, lost a brief but fierce battle with cancer. The Lord saw fit to call him home early Saturday morning March 3, at Holston Valley Medical Center. Mickey was a Farmer first and a Phone Man second. He was born to farm, but upon graduation took a job with United Intermountain Telephone Company. He never saw a line he couldn't repair and he was an artist with a bucket truck. He worked for United Intermountain and it's successors until his retirement in 2017. During that time he was in more homes than the Kingsport Times-News and Rogersville Review combined. But his first love was farming, and whether it was tobacco, corn, hay or his cattle "babies", there wasn't a thing he couldn't raise. He was the best parts of his parents - he got his Daddy's charm (and vinegar) and his Momma's caring (and sweetness). He was a handsome, good-natured man who was loved by basically everyone that knew him. And he knew everyone. His parents Blaine and Sallie Ruth Bowery preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Samantha Carter; sister Carolyn Caldwell (Robert); brother Rickey Bowery (Annalisa); nieces Megan Caldwell Baumann (R.T.) and McKenna Bowery; nephew Lucas Bowery (Lindsey) and great-nephew, Sawyer Bowery; along with a host of family and friends. Mickey had many special people in his life that he cared about very much, including David and Jan, Vicki, "Buckwheat" and Beatrice, "Bliz", Alex, Rusty, Donna, Fuller, and Faith Wilmoth. Mickey was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. And he was a good man. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Doug Messer officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. With Dana Housewright, Rusty Laney, Mike Fuller, Gary Byington, Larry Byington, and David Harrell, Tim Blizzard, Roger Bowery, Bill Bowery, and R.T. Baumann serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 pm to go in procession to the cemetery. Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill is proudly serving the Bowery family.
