Obituary of Thomas Wayne Hair

Kingsport - Thomas Wayne Hair, 81 of Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Elizabethton, TN following a lengthy illness. Born in Canton, Ohio, he had lived in East Tenn for the past 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served three tours in Vietnam and retired from the military with many honors. He was a devout Christian and involved with several local churches. Thomas was also an Eagle Scout and remained active in scouting all of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Marie Hair; his brother, Ray Hair. Thomas is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hair; his daughters, Tamra Veronee and Diana Chavis; son, Lyle Brite; grandchildren, Shay, Cory, Joey, Joshua, Jacob and Jeremiah; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Connor, Dylan, Oliver and Arya; sister, Elizabeth Banks; brothers, Donald Hair and Philip Hair; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Indian Springs Christian Church, 5536 Kiowa Street, Kingsport, Tn. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A military committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at Mtn. Home National Cemetery where the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 will conduct the honors. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Hair family.
