Obituary of James Sonny Matthews

James Sonny Matthews, 69, of Kingsport passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

He is preceded in death by his dad, James Otto Matthews.

James is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail; his daughter, Alison Matthews; his grandson, Garrett Lakatos; mother, Helen Matthews; sister, Sheila Harris and husband Ricky; brother-in-law, Greg Lockamy (who was like a brother) and wife Kela; sister-in-law, Diane Melvin and husband John; and sister-in-law, Cindy Farrell and husband David.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Downtown Kingsport.
