Obituary of Wanda L. Lunsford
WANDA L. LUNSFORD
Blountville- Wanda L. Lunsford, 68, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon (June 20, 2018) at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Church Hill and had lived in Blountville most of her life. She was a graduate of Holston Institute and was a mother and homemaker most of her life. Wanda was a member of Peasant Hill Church of the Brethren in Blountville. She was an avid gardener. Mrs. Lunsford loved taking care of her great nephew, Gregory.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lunsford; her father, John Simpson; a brother, Ronnie Simpson; a sister, Rita Simpson.
Wanda Lunsford is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, James Lunsford; her special great nephew, Gregory Long; her mother, Mildred Simpson; a brother, Jack Simpson; sisters, Thelma Justus, Valerie Shelton, and Connie Simpson along with several special nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday (June 23, 2018) from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Saturday (June 23, 2018) at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dan Case, officiating. Music will be provided by Brian Burchfield. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday (June 24, 2018) at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m.
