Obituary of Ann Odiorne

Ann Odiorne, a resident of Kingsport since 1975, died Saturday the 23th of June at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, Tennessee.

Ann Odiorne was born May 8, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. Ann was a talented and strong lady.  She received her Bachelors from Lake Erie College and her Master’s Degree from East Tennessee State University in Special Education.  She was a lover of art and enjoyed painting, knitting and crocheting.  She always loved talking on the phone and sharing stories. 

She was a fighter, being diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 3.  She has been in and out of hospitals all over the country.  Even faced with health obstacles, she persevered, learned to drive and enjoy life.  Her faith in Jesus was a source of strength. 

Ann has been blessed with several special friends and neighbors and her family is thankful for your love to Ann over the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Stewart Odiorne, Bayard Gordon Odiorne and her brother Gordon Stewart Odiorne.  She is survived by her brother, Dean Willard Odiorne (Nancy Pierson), 2 nephews Eric Odiorne, Kevin Odiorne (Lisa) and niece Kate Odiorne Layer (Scott).  She had 4 great nephews Aiden Layer, Max Layer, Pierson Layer and Connor Odiorne and 2 great nieces, Maggie and Anna Layer. She also had a special friend, David Crum.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, TN on Saturday, June 30 at 10:00 am. Ann will be buried beside her parents and brother at Riverside Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Mountain View United Methodist Church, 4405 Orebank Rd., Kingsport, TN 37664.  They have been a wonderful church family that has loved on Ann and she enjoyed singing in the choir when she was able. Carter-Trent Kingsport is in charge of arrangements.
