Obituary of Edith Barker

Kingsport-  Our little mama, Edith Barker was called home by our sweet Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, and she answered on Sunday (July 1, 2018).  To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  Our mama loved the Lord and her family with all her heart.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Barker; grandson, Sloan Barker; a daughter, Margaret Ann Heaton. 

Loved ones who remain are her children, Steven Barker, Judy Skeens, Debbie Barker, Roger Barker, and Brian Barker; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Tipton, Marie Love and a brother, Harold Rogers along with several nieces and nephews.  A special thank you goes out to her granddaughter, Kimberly Barker for the special care given to her mamaw’s daily needs. 

The visitation will be held on Friday (July 6, 2018) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at her residence.  A funeral service will take place on Friday (July 6, 2018) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Gobble, officiating.  A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday (July 7, 2018) at 3 p.m. at Webb family cemetery.  Jason Witt, Bobby Witt, Billy Snapp, and Sonnie Barker will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Rogers and Charlie Love.  Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:50 p.m.
