Obituary of Thelma Tate
Thelma Leona Head Tate “Sis” “Nana” 81, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on August 27, 1936 to the late Ballard and Marcia Winegar Head. Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sis and friend to all who knew her. Her joy was in the Lord and her family. She was a dedicated lifelong member of Shelby Creek Primitive Baptist Church where she served as secretary for many years. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Presley; brothers, R.L. Head, Ray Head, Cecil Head, Elder Eckel Head and Elder Harold Head.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Don “Tater” Tate; daughter, Tammy Fannon and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Joshua and Abby Fannon; brother, Elmer “Bob” Head; special sister-in-law, Judy Head; cousin, Bonnie Wilson, cherished nephew whom she considered a son, Tim Presley with his family Lisa and Ethan; brother-in-law, Nay Presley and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday August 10, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Elder Oscar Irvin officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Stacy Head, Tracy Head, Casey Head, Ethan Presley, Tim Presley, and Joshua Fannon serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Judy Head, Bonnie Wilson, and Lisa Presley for their loving care.
