TOMMY  E.  HYLTON

 

Gate City – Tommy E. Hylton, 74, of Gate City, VA  was healed of his cancer and called home to heaven on August 27, 2018 at the Bristol Hospice House.  He was born on January 21, 1944 in Wise, VA.

 

Tommy served in the US army in Stuttgart, Germany from 1962-1964.He was an avid fisherman all his life until his health declined.Along with his brother-in-law, Ray Edwards, he built many quality homes in the area as Edwards & Hylton Const. Co., Inc. Tommy loved and served the Lord as a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Weber City, VA.

 

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Henrietta Hylton and mother and father-in-law Brady and Inez Duncan.

 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years Angela Duncan Hylton; one son Barry L. Hylton and wife Cassie R. of Johnson City, TN; two brothers, Kenneth Hylton of Richmond, VA and Eddie Hylton and wife Joetta of Pennington Gap, VA; one sister Loretta Edwards and husband Ray of Gate City, VA; one aunt Virginia Hylton of Wise, VA; several cherished nephews, nieces and cousins; lifelong friends, Ed and Judy Frazier of Mt. Carmel, TN; and a host of other dear

Friends.

 

A gathering of friends will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Weber City from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  

 

A celebration of his life will be conducted on Thursday. August 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dean Smith and Dr. Lester Morelock, officiating.  Music will be provided by Andrea Sheppard. 

 

A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3/ # 265 following the funeral at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  Gary Kirk will serve as an honorary pallbearer. 

 

The family expresses deep gratitude to the  doctors and oncology department of the VA Medical Center and to the Bristol Hospice House team members for their excellent care and compassion.A special thank you to Freda Woodard, Brandi Hayes and Hope McConnell for their loving care of Tommy.
