Kingsport - Willie James Williams, 90, of Kingsport TN went on to be with the Lord on Monday August 13, 2018 in the comfort of his home.

Willie was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Thomas and Lillie-Mae Williams. He was the youngest of his brothers and one sister. He proudly service in the United States Army 1950, during the monumental Korean War. He lived in Baltimore, Maryland where he raised his family. He worked multiple jobs, delivered coal/oil, and finally retired from John Hopkins Hospital 1999 as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor. He lived in Baltimore, Maryland until 15 years ago when he moved to Kingsport. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend. 

The great accomplishments of his family gave him great pride and Joy. Willie was a wise and generous soul. He provided insightful counsel, financial support, and overwhelming generosity to many over his 90 years of selflessness and sacrifice. Willie was also known as a skilled pinochle player, football fan and daily jeopardy contestant.  

He was married to Cathrin Williams on January 31, 1950 and their union remained until she took her journey home on May 29, 2006 after 56 years. He now joins his wife: CathrinWilliams; son: Calvin M. Williams “Coot”; and other family members that have gone on before him.

Surviving are his 3 sons: Charles K. Williams and wife Sheila of Kingsport, TN, Rev. Michael J. Williams and wife Malinda of Anchorage, AK, and Torree Peay and wife Jamee of Kingsport, TN; his two daughters: Martha M. Williams of Baltimore, MD and Barbara Avent of Kingsport, TN; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; his brother-in-law: Charles Bryant and wife Loraine; and many friends and other family, most of whom affectionately knew him as “daddy”, “Big Shot”, and “Mr. Pill”.

Calling hours are from 11 – 12 pm on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home, 260Hwy 23N, Weber City, VA with Rev. Michael J Williams and Rev. Jeremiah Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA with his grandsons serving as pall bearers.
