Obituary of Phyllis Williams Haynes

PHYLLIS  WILLIAMS  HAYNES

Kingsport-  Phyllis Williams Haynes, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with Jesus early Friday morning (September 21, 2018) at her home following an extended illness. 

 

She was born on May 3, 1938 to the late Woodrow and Gladys Williams of Kingsport.  Phyllis graduated from Ketron High School and Whitney’s School of Business.  She was employed by Holston Valley Hospital, Frank’s Food Company, Sullivan County School System, and then retired in 1986 from Gilley and Culbertson , Attorneys at Law, PC.  Mrs. Haynes was a member of Cedar View Independent Methodist Church and attended faithfully for 73 years until her health began to decline. 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Overbay White; brothers-in-law, Hugh Anderson and Lowell Haynes; sister-in-law, Clarice Hobbs.

 

Phyllis had a sweet loving, marriage of almost 60 years to Carl Joe Haynes, Jr.; a son, Joe Haynes and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Heather (Aaron) Ketron, Matthew (Brittani) Haynes, Maylee Haynes; four great grandchildren whom she adored, Josiah and Hadley Ketron, Eli and Olivia Haynes; a sister, Berniece (Claude) Taylor along with several nieces and nephews that she loved. 

 

Phyllis adored her family and loved her many friends that she had made throughout the years.  She enjoyed her life to the fullest despite her health issues.  She loved to laugh and especially spoil her grandkids.  She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. 

 

A special thank you goes out to Amedisys Hospice and Dr. Steven Butler and staff for the special care given to Phyllis. 

 

A visitation will be held on Monday (September 24, 2018) from 10:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Cedar View Independent Methodist Church. 

 

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday (September 24, 2018) at 12:45 p.m. at Cedar View Independent Methodist Church with Dr. James Fields, officiating. 

 

A graveside service will follow the funeral on Monday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Andy Hobbs, Michael Hobbs, Matthew Haynes, Aaron Ketron, Todd Overbay, Shannon Puckett, and Doug Ferguson serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Van Overbay, Johnny Hubbard, Brent Anderson, and Claude Taylor.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar View Christian School, P.O. Box 143, Kingsport, TN 37662.
