Obituary of Quinton William Thacker

Quinton William Thacker 80, of Gate City went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Quinton was a devoted member and deacon at Pink Hill Primitive Baptist Church for over 60 years. He was avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Quinton sung with the Thacker Family Quartet for many years. He was a loving father, papaw, and uncle who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bessie Ann Thacker; parents, Bazle and Ella Thacker; son-in-law, Michael Bean; brothers, Johnny Thacker and Frank Thacker.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Bean; sons, Billy Thacker and wife Alice, Tim Thacker and girlfriend, Tammie Morris; grandchildren, Steven Thacker and wife Krystal, Whitney Yoakley and husband Terry, Chad Bean, Jaryd Thacker, Chase White, Emily Morris, and Grace Thacker; great-grandchildren, Jakob DeBord, Elijah Thacker, Joshua Woody, Sophie Woody, and Ryleigh Yoakley; brother, Roy Thacker; sister, Sue Fuller and husband Junior; along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home. From 5pm to 7pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh, Pastor Troy Daily, and Pastor Jerry Scalf officiating. Music will be provided by the True Faith Quartet. Friends may also call anytime at Billy’s residence.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery with Steven Thacker, Jaryd Thacker, Chase White, Chad Bean, Jerry Fansler, and Mike Fansler serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession to the cemetery.
