Obituary of Geraldine L. Sturgill
Geraldine L. Redman Sturgill, 85, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Preston Place II. Gerri was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Gerri loved to serve the Lord and was a long-time member of Bible Way Baptist Church, where her husband Rev. Jack Sturgill served as pastor for 31 years.
She was born in Norton, VA, on March 14, 1933. Gerri was married to Jack, the love of her life, for 49 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jack Sturgill; her parents, Moscoe and Carrie Redman and several brothers and sisters.
Gerri is survived by her children, David Sturgill and wife Diana, Bobby Sturgill and wife Elaine, and Michelle Cassedy and husband Kelly; grandchildren, Kristin Parker and husband Keith, Josh Sturgill, Chris Sturgill, Zach Sturgill, Dylan Cassedy and Alexa Cassedy; great grandchildren, Ayden Sturgill, Payton Sturgill, Neyland Sturgill, Stella Kate Parker and Sloane Karoline Parker; brother, Joe Redman; sister, Phyllis Ferguson and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Bible Way Baptist Church, 507 Packinghouse Road, Kingsport, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rick Vannoy and Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating. Music will be provided by the Bible Way Trio.
Graveside services with be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Preston Place II for the care they provided to our dear mom over the past several years.
