Obituary of Shirley Roberts

Shirley Jean Roberts, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 27, at her home. Shirley was a woman of tremendous faith who always put the needs of others first. Her love and devotion to God and her family were her passion. She was an encouragement to friends, family and anyone who knew her. She graduated from Lynn View High School in 1957 and married the love of her life, Charlie Roberts. Shirley worked as a dept. manager but her life's dream and ambition was achieved by being an excellent wife, Mom, Nana and Great-Nana.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Hattie Davis; brothers, Earl Vicars and Wilbur "Bug Vicars. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Cynthia Roberts, Sherry Armitage (husband Jimmy), Chris Roberts (wife Angie) and Pamela Sue Roberts; grandchildren, Dustin Roberts, Kelli Roberts, Alexis Armitage and Aspen Armitage; great-grandchild, Ava Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home

A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Tom Edwards officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at Washington County Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Sunday School Class at Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665.
