Obituary of Ina Williams
Kingsport – Ina Ellen Carter Williams, 89 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Wexford House following a long illness. Born in Scott County, VA, she had lived in Kingsport for most of her life. Ina retired from Tennessee Eastman after 16 years of service. She was a member of Andrew Memorial Chapel in Kingsport, where she served as Sunday school secretary and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed sewing and seamstress work.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George “Junior” Williams; parents, Joseph Worley Carter, Sr. and Eva Louise Quillen Carter; sisters, Mattie Flanary, Mary Salling and Myrtle Cox; brothers, William “Bill” Carter, Lee Carter and Joseph Worley Carter, Jr.
Ina is survived by her daughter, Melissa Howington (Ken); grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica and Alisha Howington; great-grandchildren, Braxton Howington and Malachi McCann; brother, Edwin Carter (Ingrid); several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.
A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Clint Hensley and Pastor Randy McMillion officiating. Music will be provided by Oscar Vicars.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
