Obituary of Gary A Benton

GARY A.  BENTON

Kingsport- Gary A. Benton, 69, of Kingsport, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday afternoon (January 26, 2019) at Johnson City Medical Center.  Gary was a graduate of Church Hill High School in 1967.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served from 1968 until 1972.  He resided in Charleston, South Carolina for 25 years before returning back to this area.  Mr. Benton was a member of Discover Life Church in Johnson City.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Jeanne Benton; a sister, Patricia Roberts.

Gary Benton is survived by his loving wife, Deb Benton; daughters, Ashley Williford and husband, Mike, Courtney Chapman and husband, Kris; his step-children, Daniel Feldmann and wife, Stephanie, Jackie Feldmann and partner, Steph; his brother, Jack Benton; a brother-in-law, Harold Roberts; his nephews, Dakota Benton, Tyler Mullins, and Preston Mullins; along with several granddaughters.   

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Discover Life Church, 408 E. Mountainview Rd., Johnson City, Tennessee. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor John Fontanez officiating.

Military graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the honors. Those wishing to attend will meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Gary to Discover Life Church, 408 E. Mountainview Rd., Johnson City, TN 37601 or to the Washington County Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan St, Johnson City, TN 37601.
