Obituary of Ronald Ray Meade
Kingsport – Ronald Ray “Ronnie” Meade, 78 of Kingsport, flew away to be with his heavenly father on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Indian Path Medical Center. Born in Vales Creek, WV, he had lived in Kingsport for most of his life. Ronnie was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp having served in Vietnam. He was very passionate about his golf game and enjoyed playing with his friends at The Crossings. Ronnie was known as the “Gold Dollar Man” and gave out many; many gold dollars to people that would shake his hand and thank him for his military service. He was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Ellen Meade; parents, Clyde and Lora Bauswell Meade; two sisters and two brothers.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maline Reed Meade; daughter, Lana Kaye Brown and husband Robert; granddaughter, Kaleigh Ellen Cordell; sisters, Della Miller and husband F.J. and Peggy Lell; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Bloomingdale Baptist Church, 3220 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport.
A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the church with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Music will be provided by Bloomingdale Baptist Church Choir.
A military graveside service will be held at 10:45 a.m. at Mtn Home National Cemetery with the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. The American Legion Color Guard will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bloomingdale Baptist Church.
