Obituary of Randy Shipley

Mooresburg – James Randall “Randy” Shipley, 66 of Mooresburg, TN, peacefully passed on February 26, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a 1971 graduate of Dobyns Bennet High School, attended Emory and Henry University, and completed his law degree at Memphis State University. He had a deep love of archeology, history and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Poore Shipley; brother, Dane Shipley.

Randy is survived by his wife, Angela Graham Shipley; daughter, Amy Shipley; son, Nathan Shipley and wife Rhea Myerscough; grandsons, Danny and James; sister, Karen Andis and husband Bobby; niece, Ashley.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2505 Nathan Street, Kingsport, TN.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Jim Moore officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Babb, Stewart Taylor, Jim Henderson, John Maupin, Bobby Roach, Rick Moren, Wayne Kilgore and Bill Ziere. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete McGuire and Wesley Carter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
