George W. Stacy, Jr.

Kingsport, George W. Stacy, Jr., 92, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord late Monday night March 18, 2019 at his residence.

He was born in Scott County, VA and had resided in Kingsport for over 60 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Hammond Post #3. He went to work at Eastman Kodak where he retired following 42 years of service. He was an active member of the Bloomindale Ruritan Club. He was a former National Ruritan of the Year in 2006. He served weekly at the Bloomingdale Ruritan Fish Fry where he was “famous” for his hush puppies. He was a member of Bloomindale Baptist Church since 1962.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace Gilley Stacy; parents, George and Sarah Stacy; two brothers; three sisters.

He is survived by his children, Margaret Goergen and husband, John, Jack Stacy and wife, Jill, David Stacy and wife, Patty, Carol Dubay and husband, Bob, Mark Stacy and wife, Toni; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; special nephew, Bobby Lynn Stacy and wife, Phyllis; special friend, Irene Gillenwater; along with several additional nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Bloomingdale Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Friday, March 22, 2019 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those who are wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 am. Pallbearers will be deacons of Bloomingdale Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be John Byrd and Greg Linkous.
