Obituary of Ethel Bernice Vaughn

Ethel Bernice Christian Vaughn was born on April 24, 1942 and passed away on April 15, 2019 at her home with her family and friends by her side. She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed working in her flowers. Ethel was a member of Cowan Baptist Church in the Yuma Community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Martha Christian; sons, William Emory and Emory Carlton; daughters, Leona Bentley and Patty Brooks; six brothers; one sister.

Survivors include her loving husband, Leonard Vaughn; daughters, Linda Bentley and Husband Phillip Sr. of Clarksburg, Maryland and Juanita Reed of Milford, Virginia; step-daughter, Bobbie Payne of Bristol, Virginia; sisters, Geneva Foster of Ladysmith, Virginia and Jeweldine Christian of Milford, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Sue Burton of Hiltons, Virginia and Debbie Egan and husband Jay of Duffield, Virgina; brother-in-law, Pete Vaughn and wife Edna of Gate City, Virginia;  55 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Wayne McCarty officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11am on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Church Hill Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession to the cemetery.
