Obituary of Virginia Lee Hopkins

Kingsport – Virginia Lee Hopkins, 91 of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. She was a native of Lee County, VA. and the daughter of the late Carson and Lillie Strong. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Elder Gerald Hopkins and his ministry of 52 years, as well as, a devoted mother and grandmother. Virginia was a member of Stevens Chapel Old Regular Baptist Church in Wise County, VA.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Gary Hopkins, Robin Hopkins and wife Barbara, Warren Hopkins, Russell Hopkins and wife Deb; grandchildren Michelle Donihe, Jason Hopkins, Jonathan Hopkins and Justin Hopkins; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brittany Donihe, Darryl Hopkins, Talon Hopkins and Kalix Hopkins; brother, Donald Strong; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.

A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Elder Alvin Dixon and Elder Frank Gilliam officiating. Music will be provided by Pastor Jeff Strong.

Virginia will be taken to Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA where the family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019.

A graveside service will follow the visitation in the Wise Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
