Obituary of Hazel Virginia Broughton

Hazel Virginia Broughton, age 99, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Church Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a retiree of Lynn Garden Elementary School with 25+ years of service in the cafeteria. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; she especially loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Broughton, Sr; granddaughter, Lori Hinkle; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Lonnie Broughton, Jr. and wife Elizabeth, and Richard Broughton and wife, Arlene; 3 grandchildren, Todd Broughton, David Broughton and Lisa Hammonds; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to thank special friend, Nancy Carter, for her love and support for Hazel during her time of declining health.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in downtown Kingsport. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Greg Street officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Oak Hill Memorial

Park. All those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 am.
