Obituary of Harry Dean Brown

Harry Dean Brown, age 89, of Church Hill, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Signature Healthcare in Rogersville. He was born and raised in Greeneville, TN and later moved to Hawkins County. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in education and a Master’s Degree in teaching. He was a veteran of the United States military having served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Harry began his career as an educator while serving in the military and later became a school teacher at Surgoinsville High School, Rogersville City School and retired from Rogersville High School. He was a Gideon Lay Speaker and enjoyed serving the Lord as a deacon at Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Surgoinsville. Harry loved his family and friends but most of all, he would share his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with those he met.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Randall Brown and Mark Brown; parents, J. Roy and Bonnie Brown; brother, Hugh Brown; and sister, Genevieve Brown Weems.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Inez Davis Brown; nephews, Kenneth Weems and Steve Brown (Junie); nieces, Cordelia Brown Dunn (Jerry), Brenda Brown Winslow, and Jane Weems Stroud (Joe); daughter-in-law, Patricia Brown; brother-in-law, Sam Davis; sister-in-law, Mary Davis; special friends and loving caregivers, Ron Cook (Lisa) and Rick Carroll (Sandy); several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               A Military Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens with the Hawkins County Honor Guard performing military rites and Pastor Donnie  Anderson officiating. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Surgoinsville.
