Obituary of Harold Sexton

Kingsport - David Harold Sexton, born August 14, 1941, was a Proud Veteran, he was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Sergeant serving as an Infantryman in the 1st Calvary Division during the Vietnam War. He went to be with the Lord June 27, 2019 at the age of 77.

 

He was an accomplished craftsman and jack of all trades who would go out of his way to help those around him. He is described as sweet, loving, generous man by those who knew him. Harold was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and work in the yard. He was an active and dedicated member of Wilderness Road Conservation Club, where he loved to help the youth and made lots of treasured friendships. He was a loving husband, daddy, papaw, brother, and uncle to his family and he will be greatly missed.

 

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Elizabeth & Ralph; and his siblings, Allen, Roger, Cecil, Joyce & Linda.

 

Harold is survived by his wife, Patsy M. Sexton; children, Rick Sexton & wife Patsy, David Sexton, Michelle Sexton Stallard & husband David, Amanda Harless & husband Andy, Chris Melton, Amy Jennings & husband Stan; grandchildren, Ricky, Josh, Michael, Cody, Kaylee, Nicholas, Greyson, Ally and Maddie; great grandchildren, Corrina, Bella, Ariana, Trinity  & Liam; siblings, Nancy Pendergrass, Cathy Stallard, Judy McCoy; sister in law Mary Sexton; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary Calhoun officiating.

 

A military graveside service will be held at 1 pm Monday, July 1, 2019 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 pm. Family will serve as pallbearers.
