Obituary of Jennifer Sue Ridlen Skotty
Jennifer Sue Ridlen Skotty, 49, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 30, 2019. She passed away suddenly enjoying family and friends doing what she loved.
Jenn was born in Granite City, Illinois to Donald and Norma Ridlen. She graduated from Monmouth College with a degree in Chemistry and Math. She received a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne, where she met the love of her life, Dave Skotty.
Jenn was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She touched countless lives throughout her 49 years here on Earth, and she will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her.
Jennifer worked as a chemist at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport for 20 years. She was very active in her community and was known for her commitment to the Sullivan South Band Boosters. She enjoyed being in the great outdoors, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Dave Skotty, daughter Katie Skotty, son Michael Skotty of the home. Her parents Donald and Norma Ridlen, sisters Julie Decker and Janet French.
The Celebration of Life service will be Friday, July 5th at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, 631 Lebanon Road, Kingsport. We will gather to celebrate at 4:00 pm with the service starting at 6:00 pm.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; The Humane Society at PO Box 922, Kingsport, TN 37662 or Bridge Home No Kill Animal Shelter at 2061 TN-75, Blountville, TN 37617 to honor Jennifer.
