Gay was born on November 1, 1927 to the late Luke and Alice Mae Peters. Gay took great pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family. She loved everyone and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her greatest joy in life was her faith and being a born again Christian. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her infant sister, Maxie Peters; and brothers, John W. (Sylvia) and Charles Robert (Velda) Peters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 71 years, Nattie E. Baker of the home; sons, Gary and Terry Baker of Hiltons; brother, Roger Peters of Gate City; and several loving nieces.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 5-7 pm at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Rev. David Castle and Rev. Will Shewey officiating. Music will be provided by Oscar Harris.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Scott County Funeral Home at 10:15 am to go in procession. Gay’s nieces will serve as pallbearers.
