Obituary of Karen Vernae Fields

Karen Vernae Fields, 72, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Sept 1st 2019. She was surrounded by her family with love and peacefully fell into the arms of the everlasting.

 

Born in Kingsport, August 16th, 1947 where she lived most of her life. She attended Dobyns-Bennett High School. She worked at Holston Valley Hospital for 25 years before retiring in 2000. Karen was a member at Homeland Baptist Church. She remained strong in the love for her church, faith in the Lord and love for her family despite her declining health.

 

Karen was a loving mother, Nannie, soon to be great-grandmother to baby Carrier and Great Aunt. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.

 

Karen was preceded in death by her husband L.C. Fields (2006) after 44 years of marriage and her parents Walter and Mary Fields.

 

Surviving are her children, Markalene Earles and husband Joe, Walter Fields and wife Haley, Lisa Patton and husband Tom all residing in Kingsport. Grandchildren, Kaitlin Earles, Colton Earles, Kayla Carrier and husband Clayton, Jacob Patton and Lucas Patton. Sisters, Grada Starnes and Brenda Carr both residing in Kingsport. Special Nephews, Mark Starnes and Marcus Carr; great neice, AnnaBelle Carr. Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Robert Funke and his staff as well as Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice.

 

Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at Carter Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Terry Browder and Justin Quillin officiating.

 

Graveside services will be held at 12 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Blessing, Bobby Davidson, Colton Earles, David Earles, Michael Fields and Bobby McConnell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Earles, Tom Patton, Jacob Patton and Lucas Patton. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50 am.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Fields to Homeland Baptist Church at 2504 Hawaii St. Kingsport, TN 37660.
