Obituary of James Collie "Jim" Williams Jr.

James C. “Jim” Williams Jr., 80, of Gate City passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2019 at NHC of Kingsport.

 

Jim was born on October 16, 1938 to the late James Collie and Edith Jenkins Williams. Jim worked for the Tennessee Eastman Company as an estimator for 30 years before his retirement. His great joys in life were farming, Gate City football, and his family. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

 

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara “Bobbie” Williams; and brother, David Williams.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jeanette Ecker and husband Bruce; sons, Tim Williams and wife Karen, Joe Williams and wife Darlene; grandchildren, Eric Williams and Brianna Jennings; step grandchildren, Karianne Counts and Craig Ecker; great grandchildren, Tommy, Ella, and Emerson Williams, Kara Jennings, Cory, Logan, Tristian, Mason, and Addison Counts, Casey, Austin, Dalton, and Hayden Ecker; brother, Danny Williams; along with several nieces and nephews. 

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Larry Tolley and Rev. Roger Vineyard officiating.

 

A graveside service will be held at Holston View Cemetery on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11 AM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM to go in procession. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

 

Also the family will receive visitors anytime at Joe’s home.

 

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at NHC of Kingsport and Caris hospice for their loving care of Jim during his time there.
