Obituary of Phyllis Horton Hurd

Kingsport – On Thursday, October 17, 2019, Phyllis Sue Horton Hurd, 72 of Kingsport joined her Lord and Savior, her parents Elwood and Imogene Roller Horton; her daughter, Bridgette Hurd; her son, Christopher Hurd; brother, Donald Horton; her grandparents, Iven and Nora Horton; and Johnny and Lucy Roller and her nephew, Kevin Horton, She was born on January 13, 1947 in Fairview, VA. She was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church where she attended as long as her health permitted.

Phyllis is survived by her brothers: David Horton and wife Charlotte, Dennis Horton and wife Debra and Joe Horton and wife Brenda; sister-in-law, Carrie Horton and several nieces and nephews; special friend, Gerri Peters

A receiving of friends will be from 12 – 2 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City with services to follow. Officiants will be Pastor Robert Fletcher and Bro. Brian McClellan officiating with music provided by Perry Voices.

Burial will follow in Horton-Roller Cemetery, 10747 Fairview Road, Fairview, VA. Pallbearers are Jason Horton, Logan Shepard, Ricky Horton, Jimmy Horton, Tony Shelton and Peyton Horton. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Carter, Rick Willis and J. R. Browder.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Horton-Roller Cemetery, C/O Dennis Horton,125 Andrea Street, Gate City, VA 24251.
