Obituary of Ellis Paul Burke

Kingsport – Ellis “Paul” Burke, 91 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Indian Path Community Hospital with his wife by his side. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Kingsport Press. He was a member of Oak Drive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Salyer Burke; his parents, Bruce Burke and Pearl Mays.

Paul is survived by his wife, Nancy Robinson Fields Burke; daughter, Sharon Burke Herr; granddaughter, Laura Herr Michels and husband Jeff; grandson, Joe Herr; great-granddaughter, Della Michels; step-son, Wes Fields and wife Sandy; step-grandchildren, Beth Clendenin and husband Rusty and Carly Brashears and husband Chase; step-great-granddaughter, Libby Clendenin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many other friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Eddie Whitley officiating. Music will be provided by The Perrys.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
