Obituary of Willie Mae Deel

Gate City – Willie Mae Deel, 86 of Gate City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Indian Path Community Hospital. Born in Erwin, TN, she had lived in Gate City since 1985. Mae was retired from the Alexandria School System where she was the cafeteria manager. Mae enjoyed working in her flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C. C. Deel, Jr.; daughters, Rita Jo Smith and Theresa Kerr; her parents, Rotha and Venus Darnell Garland; sister, Betty Garland; her brothers, Jim “Buster” Garland and Guy Garland.

Mae is survived by grandchildren, Christopher Stallard, Richard Stallard, Kourtney Mae King, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; sisters, Dorothy Darter and Sue Matlock; brother, John Garland and wife Norma.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Tolley officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
