Obituary of Micca Alberta Vaughan

Micca Alberta Gilliam Vaughan of Duffield VA, left this earth and joined her heavenly father on December 26, 2019.

Micca was born September 8, 1934 and married the love of her life on April 1, 1950 at the tender age of 15. She began her family with the birth of her first daughter at the age of 16. Following in the footsteps of their parents, Micca and Sam continued to be blessed with children and at the age of 27, Micca was a mother to 9 children, one deceased. She loved the Lord and lived a pure and modest life.

Micca was preceded in death by her parents, Hasten Gilliam and Victoria Neal Gilliam; sisters, Alpha Aredith Dingus Davis, Dorothy Ann Williamson; brothers, Paul Gilliam and Ely Gilliam; infant daughter, Mary Ann Vaughan; son, David Allen Vaughan; daughter-in-law, Judy Vaughan.

Micca is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Sam Henry Vaughan, daughters, Jewel Farris (Stan), Juanita Keesling (Richard); sons, Eddie Vaughan, Bobby Vaughan, Robert Vaughan (Edna), Albert Vaughan, Larry Vaughan (Kathy); sisters, Myrtle Cleo Vaughn and Margaret Williamson; brother, Echol Gilliam; she leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.

We have made a forever friend with Micca’s caregiver of the last two years, Jareen Cooper. Her compassion, love and care of Micca won our hearts and Micca’s love and trust. The family would like to send a very special thanks to the various Hospice organizations that have served them through Micca’s illness; Amedisys, especially Linda Byrd, Caris, especially Kim and Brooke and Avalon, especially Sarah and Tammy.

The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Robert Vaughan officiating.

Graveside services will follow at the Adams Cemetery in Duffield, VA with family serving as pallbearers.
