Obituary of Morrison Reed Manis

Morrison Reed Manis 82, of Kingsport went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 13, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born in Eidson, Tennessee to the late George and Ebbie Manis. Morrison served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 where he was stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He spent time with his family singing gospel songs and would often play the banjo, guitar or harmonica. Morrison was an avid painter and enjoyed woodworking. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; son, Jeffrey; grandson, Michael; brothers, Fred, Hale, Harold, McKinley, and Gale; sisters, Nancy and Maybell.

Survivors include his daughter, Darla Scott and husband Randy; son, Tim Manis; grandchildren, Nikki, Breanna, Matthew (Beth), Reed, and Clara; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Scruggs and Bonnie “Lucille” Skeens and husband Slempy; along with several nieces and nephews.

Due to current restrictions for Covid-19 a private graveside service will be conducted at the Babb Family Cemetery in Clinchport, VA with Rev. Chris Brown officiating. Music will be provided by Morrison’s sister Bonnie Skeens. Family will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Breanna, Johnny Ray, Anthony and Brittany, Nathaniel and Emmanuel for their loving care.
