Obituary of Lorraine Vera Olinger

Lorraine V. Olinger 80, of Gate City went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at her home. She was a very skilled seamstress and especially enjoyed cross-stitch, knitting, and crocheting. Lorraine was also an outdoor enthusiast where she enjoyed wild flowers as well as bird and animal watching. She was a member of Cowan’s Branch Baptist Church. Lorraine was a loving and devoted aunt, great-aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Olinger; mother, Ruth Stevens; brother, Eddie Cook.

Survivors include her niece and caregiver, Charlene Caston; great-nephew, Wesley Birmingham; great-niece, Taylor Birmingham; brother, Al Cook and wife Bonnie; sister, Diana Koester and husband Dana; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Danny Sykes officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Fl. 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
