Obituary of C. William "Bill" Kilgore

C. William “Bill” Kilgore, 88, of Kingsport, passed away at his home Saturday, April 25, 2020. He was the son of the late Clayton W. and Lillian Trinkle Kilgore.

Bill was a graduate of Lynn View High School and East Tennessee State University. Bill retired from Eastman Kodak’s engineering division in 1991 after 36 years of service.

He was an assistant Scout Leader for Troop 58, sponsored by Colonial Heights Baptist Church in the 1970’s. He enjoyed the hiking, camping trips and encouraging scouts as they worked toward their goals.

Bill also enjoyed motorcycles, bowling, golfing, and travelling, but his favorite hobby was woodworking. Many of his creations, from Christmas ornaments to musical instruments to furniture are still in use in homes across the region.

He was a proud American and U.S. Navy Veteran, having been stationed in Maine and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Bill was a member of First Christian Church and had previously served as a deacon and church treasurer.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Karen Kilgore of Kingsport; brother and sister-in-law, James L and Sandra Kilgore of Chattanooga; nephew, Matthew Kilgore of Chattanoga; Bill will be missed by all who called him a friend.  He will be especially missed by his loyal Chihuahua, Peanut, who stayed by his side throughout his illness.                                                                                                                                                                             

The family would like to thank the nurses and CNA’s with Amedisys Hospice. Each of you is a tremendous comfort to patients and families. Thank you all for making a difference.

Due to Covid-19 no funeral service will be held. A private memorial for family will be scheduled at a later date.
