Obituary of Debbie Hawk Maggard

Debbie Hawk-Maggard 63, of Church Hill, passed away Monday, May 4th, 2020, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was the daughter of AD and Bonnie Bishop. Debbie graduated from East Tennessee State University with a bachelors of science degree in nursing. She worked as an intensive care nurse until she retired in 2019 from Holston Valley’s ICU department.

 In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her sister, Rhonda Fain.

Survivors include her husband Claude Maggard; two brothers, Tony Bishop and Brad Bishop; step son Jared Maggard; nieces, Katie Bishop, Kimberly Bishop, Kayla Bishop and Alisa Bishop; nephews Caiden Bishop and Kaison May.

A special mention of Stephanie Baldry, who started out as a nursing school classmate, then became one of Debbie’s dearest friends. Debbie thought of her as a daughter and loved her and her family dearly. They called her momma Deb.

 The family of Debbie Hawk-Maggard will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Friday, May 8, 2020, in the Carter Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Dave Sally officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday, in the East Tennessee Cemetery, Blountville. Active pallbearers will be friends and family. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm Saturday.
