My most sincere condolences to the family of Brian Odle. Brian was a clinical pharmacist at JCMC when I was employed there as a pharmacist. He was always willing to provide us with assistance when needed and willing to teach. He was a great story teller and had a wonderful sense of humor. Most importantly, he was very comfortable sharing his Christian faith and his love for his Lord and his family.

Brian was a great guy! I'd say that even if we weren't cousins! I needed help a few years with my mother's medication and I knew I could trust Brian to tell me the pros and cons of each med. Thanks to him, I was able to get some of my mom's meds changed or dropped and in doing so added quality as well as quantity to her life. Brian and the entire Odle family have gone through a lot in our lifetime - we may never know why God allows things to happen - but we can rest assured there is a plan! God needed another angel in heaven or maybe the angels in heaven needed Brian? Either way, Brian's work here on earth is through and he deserves to go rest high on that mountain and go to heaven a shoutin. Even though we didn't see or talk to one another often - I'll miss you cuz! I know you're in a better place in loving arms of God. A stars light shines for years after it's gone - your light will likewise shine on in our hearts and memories. God bless you Kim, kids, Chad, Kay and all other friends and family. Our loss is heavens gain. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers!

Kim,
I am so very sorry for this heart breaking loss. I just can not imagine. I fondly remember when we are all just kids in Memphis in pharmacy school. I guess I was a P-4 and Brian lived across from me in Cabanaland. I remember you visiting and couldn't believe we had another student from Kingsport! We all went our separate ways but then found out you all settled in Kingsport and attended Lucy's church. You and Brian were just perfect together and I know you will miss him dearly. Such a strong, kind, sweet soul. Love to you and the kids. I will continue to pray for you all.
Sincerely,
Luann Crussell Porter

Family and Friends,
I would like to express my condolences to Brian's family and friends. The students, staff, and faculty of the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy all loved Dr. Brian Odle. He was passionate about his job, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was kind to everyone he met. He loved his family and the Lord. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone that he touched. I am very blessed to have known him.

As a new pharmacist at Saint Francis Hospital Memphis I met one of our pharmacy student employees , Brian Odle. A long drink of water as my grandmother used to call a tall fellow, Brian had a turn of phrases and a gaggle of homegrown stories that had us laughing until we cried. As a Kingsport native he also had a developing connection through his future wife to my corner of TN. Brian did not bring his lunch to work but he did bring a grocery sack with at least one loaf of bread to make his lunches. When he graduated he went north to start his residency which took him into his first serious health issues which we all prayed would be his last. His positivity, charm, and ability to pose a little mischief in the way he would ask questions to mock you a little bit lead me to believe he could do anything. My condolences to his family and to all who were blessed enough to have him in their daily lives. He has a legacy of strength, love, endurance, and humor which now leaves a void. I am so thankful to have known him in a life that was decades too short but left many friends, colleagues, and students who will never forget Brian.

Brian came to work at The Children's Hospital at JCMC while I was the Child Life Specialist there. I never saw him without a smile, and a happy disposition. Even after his Katie died, he worked through it with his unique courage and strong faith. I truly regret his physical presence has left us, but his light will shine forever. Peace and grace to his wife and children.

I wish every Pastor could know the joy that comes from knowing and serving with someone like Brian. His love for the Lord, his family, and his church was so evident in his daily walk. He was a wonderful friend, a gifted teacher, and a very humble man. We could learn a lot about facing life's trials from Brian. He's home now. I won't say good bye brother, but rather, see you later. Sis Kim and children, I want each of you to know that I love you all dearly. Bro Brian was a treasured friend to me. I have always admired him and each of you. You are a precious family. The love I’ve always witnessed by you all for one another and others is a precious blessing. People will always say “I’m sorry for your loss “ which I understand, but it’s not a loss when you know where he is. I do pray the Lord pour His peace out on each of you. I love you. Cathy Dixon
