Obituary of Melvin James Housewright

Melvin James Housewright 60, of Surgoinsville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was an avid outdoorsman, classic car enthusiast, and enjoyed watching football. Melvin enjoyed researching history especially about WWII. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Faye Housewright.

Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Beverly Housewright; son, Jake Houseright; sisters, Donna Crawford and husband Bryan, Karen Sproles and husband James; special sister, Misti Franklin and husband Eric; along with several nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes a graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Elm Springs UMC Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Housewright, Bryan Crawford, Cody Crawford, James Sproles, Travis Sproles, and Peyton Franklin.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill is serving the Housewright family.
