Obituary of Mildred Bernice Salyers
Hiltons, VA – Mildred “Midge” Bernice (Vermillion) Salyers, 77, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Mendota, Va. on December 14, 1943, a daughter of the late A.M. Vermillion and Laura (Carrier) Vermillion. Mildred was retired from Indian Path Medical Center after 30 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Darthula Baptist Church, Hiltons, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene Salyers; son, Wayne Salyers; brothers, Ira Vermillion, Clyde Vermillion; sisters, Betty Fields and Violet Long.
Surviving are her son, Jonathan Salyers; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Salyers; grandchildren, Rachel Taylor and husband SSG Matthew Taylor, Courtney Salyers Kim and husband Milo Kim, Candra Salyers and fiancée Jaron Coomer, Tailor Salyers Adams and husband LCPL Austin Adams, great-grandchildren, Gavin Person, Conner Taylor, Sara Taylor, Bodi Kim and Bonnie Kim; brothers, Maynard Vermillion and wife Bernice, Calvin Vermillion and wife Patricia; sisters, Wavy Fleenor and Carolyn Pippin and husband David; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Scott County Funeral Home. Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Layton Bentley officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Darthula Church Cemetery, 1741 Lunsford Mill Rd., Hiltons, VA 24258.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:00 am Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matt Taylor, Milo Kim, Jaron Coomer, Austin Adams, Zeke Adams, Mike Taylor and Daryl Parker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family c/o Jonathan Salyers, 147 Freedom Drive, Hiltons, VA. 24258.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her sister, Carolyn Pippin, niece, Judy Hensley, Kelly Fields, Cynthia Salyers and Pastor Layton Bentley as well as staff members of Elite Hospice and staff of the ICU step down unit at Holston Valley Medical Center.
