Obituary of Laura Anna Burton

Laura “Sue” Anna Burton, 77, of Gate City, VA  entered into rest on Friday, September 24, 2021 at her residence.

Sue was born in Duffield, VA on October 6, 1943, a daughter of the late Bud Daniel and Ida (Barnett) Vaughn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Erskel Burton; daughter, Renee Bolling;  4 brothers and 1 sister.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed.  Sue’s favorite saying was “Keep it Simple – Stupid”.

Surviving are her daughter, Tammy Burton; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Terri Burton; grandson, Daniel Bolling along with 8 additional grandchildren;  17 great-grandchildren;  sisters, Debbie Egan and husband Jay, Bobbie Payne;  brothers, Leonard Vaughn and Pete Vaughn and wife Edna;  several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Darthula Church Cemetery, 1741 Lunsford Mill Rd., Hiltons, VA. with Pastor Layton Bentley officiating.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA to visit and share memories of Sue prior to departing in procession to the cemetery.

Everyone planning to attend are asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Burton, Jay Egan, Pamela Teer, David Phillips, Carlton Phillips and Weston Piper.
