Obituary of Gladys Hopkins Looney

Gladys Hopkins Looney, 96, died October 19, 2021 in Kingsport, TN. Born in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Samuel and Maebelle Driver Hopkins. She was a resident of Greenville, SC for several decades and a member of Berea Heights Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death are 2 brothers: Harold “Bud” Hopkins and Grady (late Ruby McAlister) Hopkins; 2 sisters: Ruby (late Calvin) Martin and Jewel (late Robert) Bowers;  and  1 son: Mike (late Susan) Looney.

Surviving is 1 daughter, Dianne (Bill) Sharp and 1 son, Buddie Looney. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 22, 2021 at Belton Cemetery, Belton, SC with Pastor Mitch Whisnant officiating. Music will be provided by Kay Crowe Bayne.
