Our family is very saddened to learn of Doc Fuller's passing. I counted him as a friend. He was an exceptional veterinarian and always willing to come to our farm - day or night - to treat a sick animal. He will be sorely missed. We are praying for peace and comfort for the family during this time of great loss.
Take comfort in the words of Jesus in John 16:22.

Doc Fuller has saved many of my dogs and cats along with Dr Harrison. He always helped anyway he could. I picked up my dog from his office the week before he got sick and the last thing he said to me was "I think that little dog is going to make it " and patted me on the back. He will be so missed by so many. Doc you earned those wings and I know somewhere in heaven you are enjoying the love from all those fur babies

Condolences to his family and staff. I am one of the recipients of his kindness, thoughtfulness, and love for animals. Last he spoke with me he said he thought he had it in hand. To say I am dumbfounded is to say the least. To say I sit here quietly thinking about every time he helped me or a random animal I brought in is an understatement. He is, was and will continue to always be a great humanitarian and advocate for the voiceless, those animals he took in and took care of. My dogs, goats and a deer will be at the bridge to greet him home. Rest in Peace my friend. Earth has lost a diamond.

I worked with Bill in the late 80s in the Extension office of the courthouse. Carolyn and I would play jokes on him and oh my we did one that he got back with Carolyn by putting peanut butter on her windshield wipers and that day it so happened to just rain a tad. She turned on her wipers and had a hard time seeing, so you can imagine. We all had fun. I would love to tell you about that incident in person, along with many more mischievous things that Carolyn and I would do but all was harmless fun. I have those memories to cherish along with pics of him in that time. Glad I got to know him.
Prayers for his family, I know you're still in shock bc I still am.

He was such a great friend and vet. He showed me so much on taking care of my animals. Our horses and dogs. He always said he was proud of me and I love ya. I will miss him so much. He let me break one of his horses for him. I felt so proud. He came when we had to put our Tessa dog down. He came to our house and put her down in the living room where she would be comfortable. He is such an amazing man. I am glad I got to know him. Love you Doc Fuller

Tyler, Connie and I are deeply saddened by Doc's passing. We enjoyed his friendship as much or more than we appreciated our need of him....and that was a lot, too. He was overworked and spread thin but he seemed to thrive in being there for every need. I was amused by him over the past 3 or 4 years taking just a little more time for himself.....little things like going with him to an auction ....but a highlight for him was a hotdog there. He enjoyed doing and talking about things he had done lately with many other friends. He shared a lot over the years and taught us so much as he treated our animals. He enjoyed explaining why and what he was doing. We will miss his farm calls but miss him most.

Bill was on our 1987 livestock judging team with me. He was a great guy. I will never forgot him giving others "a hard look" when they were rude or his southwestern Virginia accent. We lost touch over the years but Bill was so loved in college and I know he so wanted to be a veterinarian. I am so blessed to have known Bill. I know that he touched many lives and made them better. Blessings to his family. We should all aspire to continue in Bill's absence to give others our time and talents and make this world a kinder and better place. Andrea Cupp

We are heartbroken over the immense loss of Doc. We truly cherished him as not only our vet but as our friend as well. He put my colts face back on when he got into fence. He did a hernia repair on my filly. He was the only vet that listened to me about my senior GSD needing pain management for her hips and again the only vet who heard me out about my suspicions of EPM on my mare. Because he listened, both were able to be properly treated. He chased issues with my daughters pony for me. He helped my family say goodbye to our bluetick when he found she had bone cancer. He did so much for our little farm and we were so very blessed to have known the true care of a great vet. Every call and visit with every patient always ended with “we appreciate ya. Love ya.” And I don’t know that he understood just how much that could brighten some folks days. The community mourns the loss of a phenomenal friend who loved all animals and their people. Our thoughts and prayers are with Docs family through this difficult time.

I will miss Doc Fuller as a Hokie, veterinarian and friend. He came to my farm to care for my goats several times over the years, sometimes in the middle of the night. The Virginia Tech motto is Ut Prosim (That I May Serve). He lived up to that motto by serving his community. He will be greatly missed. Barbara, he knew you and I attended GCHS about the same time. He always talked to me about how proud he was of you and your accomplishments. I pray for all his family’s comfort and healing.
