



Obituary of Michael Edward Proffitt
Michael Edward Proffitt, 56, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Bristol, TN to Carter Proffitt and Dorothy Bethany. He was a devoted member of Pilgrims Chapel Church. Michael was a handyman for anyone in need of assistance. He was plumber for over 30 years and was very proud of his profession. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carter William Proffitt; brother, Sammy Proffitt; sister, Donna Mayo.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Debra Proffitt; son, Chris Proffitt and wife Jessica; daughter, Heather Proffitt; grandchildren, Tanner, Kelsie, Grayson, T.J., Spencer, and Avery; mother, Dorothy Bethany; brothers, Willie Proffitt and wife Mary, Ron Christian and wife Jessica; sisters, Mary Waterman and husband David, Tina Jones and husband Lee, Debbie Haynes, Tina Navarro; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Charlie Frazier and Pastor David Grubb officiating. Music will be provided by Miles Cox.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Old Kingsport Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Hutchins, Lynn Franklin, Dustin Waterman, Micky Reed, Camrin Coffey, and Marshall Tidwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Christian and Daniel Hyder. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.
