Obituary of Peggy Anne Stallard

Peggy Anne Farmer Black Stallard, born July 28, 1937 died on February 17, 2023 peacefully at her home.

She was born at home in Keokee, VA to the late Henry Jerome and Gladys Legge Farmer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert “Bob” Neill Black and her second husband, Donald Leon Stallard and sister, Elizabeth Frances “Bette” Falin.

She was strong believer of God and accepted Jesus as a young girl at First Baptist Church of Weber City, then became a member of First Baptist Church of Gate City; she also attended Abundant Living Christian Fellowship and Miraculous Church in Kingsport. During her career, she worked for JC Penney, Sterchi’s Furniture and Jewelry Store and Brendles where she managed the jewelry department. She loved her family, flowers, gardening, ceramics, sewing, quilting, crocheting and tatting while traveling to Nascar races and camping.

Peggy is survived by her brother, Henry Jerome Farmer; daughters, Sarah Phillips (Randy) and Lesa Worley (Jim); three step-sons, Mike Stallard (Donna), Greg Stallard, and Tim Stallard; granddaughter, Melissa “Missy” Hatcher (Daniel); grandsons, Robert “Robbie” Worley and Jared Worley (Whitney); great-grandchildren, Duncan, Jackson, Emma, Elijah and Kalynn Worley. She also has eight step-grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA at 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 22, 2023 with Bro. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 12:50 pm at the cemetery for the service.

Pallbearers will be family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or Crossroads Community Center Ministry of First Baptist Church of Gate City, P.O. Box 97, Gate City, VA 24251.
