Amanda Roberts

Obituary of Amanda Jane Roberts

Psalm 119:50

“This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.”

During the morning hours of Saturday, May 13, 2023, Amanda Jane Roberts, age 48 of Jonesborough, was taken up into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Yeshua Messiah.  Amanda was born on April 1, 1975, in Bridgetown, Barbados to Richard and Shirley Browne.  Following in her father’s footsteps, Amanda developed into a true champion athlete, and in her early teens she achieved #1 rank Tennis youth women’s division and represented Barbados in tournaments throughout the Caribbean and Florida. Her family relocated to the United States when Amanda was 16, and she ultimately earned a full-ride athletic scholarship with Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX where she graduated with honors then established a successful professional career history in Technical Recruiting, Human Resources, and IT Project Management.  On August 30, 2004, Amanda married Kevin Roberts, and after 18 years of marriage and loving service of Yeshua together, he survives.

Together, Amanda and Kevin faithfully served in their church, The Vineyard, in Limestone, TN, and the ACTS Biblical Training Center.  Amanda used her powerful spiritual gift of exhortation to encourage and help others. She truly loved from the heart and was loved by so many.   She was a prayer warrior and loved to dance for Yeshua.  As one of her good friends stated, “Amanda’s prayers touched Heaven.”  She enjoyed home remodel projects, hiking outdoors in the Appalachians, and working with the animals on the church farm.  Amanda’s loving spirit and kind soul were felt by everyone she encountered; and those who knew her are truly blessed.

Amanda was preceded in death by her father, Richard Browne.  Those left to cherish her beautiful memory and testimony are her husband, Kevin Roberts; her mother and stepfather, Shirley Reid and John Reid; sister, Melanie Frederiksen; two nephews Blake, and Garth; and many loving brothers and sisters in the Lord from Tennessee, Texas and beyond.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport.  A funeral service celebrating Amanda’s life and testimony will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastors Matthew Miller and Scott Hillman officiating.
