Obituary of Kenneth Daryl Parker

Kenneth Daryl Parker, 82, of Church Hill, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023. He was born June 10, 1940 in Greeneville, TN to the late Jay and Edith Parker. Daryl grew up in Kingsport and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. He went to work for Tennessee Eastman and retired from there in 1993. He was a member of the Kingsport Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Daryl grew up in church, but it was later in his life when he developed a close relationship with God. He loved the Lord and looked forward to his sister bringing him the recordings of Timothy Strickland and Mark Ferguson‘s sermons and lessons from Cedar View Independent Methodist Church. Daryl was a very giving man and donated to many charities, including St. Jude’s, Shriner’s Hospital, The Salvation Army, and The Humane Society. He was known to his family as “Cha-Cha” and he will be deeply missed by them, as well as his two dogs, Shooby and Ralphie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister and her husband, Norma Jeanette Wallace and John Wallace.

He is survived by his younger sister and her husband, Carolyn McGhee and Gary, nephews: Timothy Wallace, Randy McGhee and wife, Vivian; nieces, Elisa Wallace Dempsey, Cindy Wallace Lane and husband, Allen, Gina McGhee Jones and husband, Jamie, Alice McGhee Smith and husband, Chad; great nieces and nephews, Erica Shelton and husband, Nathan and their children, Levi, Samuel and Ruby Shelton, Nicholas Dempsey, Jacob Lane, Jackson Lane and Jonahus Lane, Parker McGhee, Gavyn McGhee and Brogan McGhee, Jaylyn Jones and Will Jones, Julian Smith and Caroline Smith.

Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 11:00am on Friday June 2, 2023 with Pastor Timothy Strickland officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.

 Instead of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to your local animal shelter or Cedar View Independent Methodist Church.
