Evelyn Jacquay

Obituary of Evelyn Lee Jacquay

Evelyn Lee (Ingraham) Jacquay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, left this world for a better place on July 10, 2023, in Kingsport, Tennessee with her family by her side. She was born in Schenectady, New York in 1942 to Robert and Viola Ingraham. She remained on her family home place most of her life where she and her husband raised their children. She retired from Price Chopper markets after 43 years of dedicated service. Her family at Oak Drive Baptist Church in Kingsport meant the world to her.

She was a loving, caring, selfless woman who placed family above all else. She loved and mentored many who considered her the mother they never had. She worked tirelessly and gave freely to all of those around her. Her imprint on our lives and on our hearts will remain forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Viola (McNeilly) Ingraham; husband of 51 years Richard Clifford Jacquay Sr; and son, Richard Clifford Jacquay Jr. ; brothers Stanley Ingraham, Robert “Sonny” Ingraham, Glen Ingraham, Donald Ingraham, and sisters June (Anthony) Ingraham, Patricia Ingraham and Shirley (Offield) Ingraham.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon Christine Jacquay, son-in-law Frank Howard Hoffman, and grandson Richard Clifford Jacquay, all of Kingsport, TN; brother Raymond (Carole) Ingraham of Holland-Patent, NY; and sister Dorothy Ingraham of Schenectady, NY. Also surviving her are several nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she touched and cared for in her most special way.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation for the kindness and dignity with which the staff at Holston Valley Medical Center treated our family. Their care was top notch and they demonstrated genuine concern and professionalism throughout her hospitalization.
