Cienna Owens

Obituary of Cienna Rae Owens

Cienna Rae Owens passed peacefully in the arms of her loving parents on August 2, 2023 at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. She was born on June 27, 2023 and brought an immense amount of joy to the lives that she touched in her short time with us. Cienna is the daughter of Christopher and Kelsey Owens and she is the answer to all of their prayers. Chris and Kelsey spent many hours holding, feeding, changing and loving on their sweet daughter. She loved to hold mommy’s hand, nap in daddy’s arms and listen to ocean sounds each night as they read their daily devotional together. Cienna shined light onto those that had the privilege of meeting her and will forever be their little “Rae of sunshine.” Her strength and courage have inspired so many people and she was covered in prayer each day by those following along on her journey.

Cienna is survived by her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and so many friends that have shared their love from all over the world. Cienna will always be Chris and Kelsey’s precious angel and they know they will hold her again in Heaven one day. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 12, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Chris and Kelsey will welcome family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. They ask that you wear your favorite color as a tribute to Cienna’s colorful personality.

The Owens family would like to thank those that cared for Cienna in her time at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, specifically the nurses and providers in the PCICU and the ECMO team. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the hospital via their website.
