Obituary of Billie Jou Bishop

Billie Jou Bishop, age 76 of Kingsport, TN went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2023.  Jou was born on March 3, 1947, in Coeburn, VA to Willie and Alma Carico.  In September of 1971, Jou married her most cherished friend and love of her life, Charles L. Bishop, and after a beautiful life together, he preceded her in death in 2003. 

Jou loved flower gardening and spending time with her family.  In her later years Jou volunteered as an usher at the Lamplight Theatre in Kingsport, TN. 

Jou was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Charles L. Bishop; and three sisters, Marion Arwood, Teresa Clemmons, and Shannon Carico.  Those left to cherish Jou’s memory are her two daughters, Breanna Bishop, and Amanda Bishop; one granddaughter, Alexis Anderson; brother, Harry Carico and wife Donna; sister, Jewel Seymour; many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members; her best friend, Thelma Portor; and her dear friend, Billy Wayne. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Evangelist John Hammonds officiating.  Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
