Obituary of Brett D. Rodgers II

Brett Douglas Rodgers II, 20, passed away Friday, March 2nd, 2018 tragically and his loss saddens us immensely. Brett grew up in Oakland, California before settling in Kingsport, TN with his mother and siblings. He is the eldest twin born in Belleville, Illinois on August 5, 1997 to Sonia Perez and Brett Rodgers. He was raised by his mom and Scott Sensabaugh. He graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School in 2016, where he was an exceptional member of the football and basketball team. He was a first year student enrolled at East Tennessee State University with dreams of pursuing a professional career in football. Brett was a gentle, kind-hearted brother, son, and friend with a warm loving soul. He had such an impeccable smile. He was a sweet and loving young man and he will be missed tremendously. He could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. Brett was an avid lover of sports and became an all-star athlete at a very early age until his untimely death. He also enjoyed playing video games with his brothers King and Blake, bonding with his family and hanging out with his friends. He loved to laugh and always wore a smile on his face that is unforgettable. His life would seem too short to many, but to those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. "To know him was to love him." Brett is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Luis Perez Sr. Brett is survived by his twin brother Blake Rodgers; his parents Sonia Perez and Scott Sensabugh; father, Brett Rodger Sr.; sisters, Crystal Sensabaugh and Stephanie Rodgers; brother, King Sensabaugh; niece, Isabella Sensabaugh; grandmothers, Carmen Montalvo and Tanya Rodgers; and a host of family and friends to cherish his memories. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. We thank God for his life and we will forever remember his smile. Thanks to God for the life of Brett Douglas Rodgers II. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Harvest Community Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow with Rev.
