Obituary of Hettie Mae Reed

Hettie Mae Reed 91, of Kingsport went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, February 16, 2018. She was a resident of Holston Manor in Kingsport, suffering from Alzheimer's. Before her illness, she loved to garden. Hettie was an old fashioned farm girl who loved people and helping those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley B. Skeens and Lillie V. Skeens; husbands, Oscar J. Reed and Brownlow Reed; twin sons, Harold and Darrell Reed; grandson, Andrew Fields; granddaughters, Charlotte Sturgill and Alicia Hicks; great-granddaughter, Tiffany Sloan. Survivors include her daughters, Lillie Dean and husband Charles, Lena Sloan, and Judy Cole; grandsons, Brian Sloan, Kelly Dean, and Jack Fields; granddaughters, Sharon Sloan, Shana Reedy, Amber Leann Sloan, Anna Repass; great-grandsons, Lynn Repass, Casey Repass, Jesse Repass, Justin Sloan, Daniel Sturgill, and Tyler Dean; great-granddaughters, Brittany Hoss and Carlee Dean; brother, Cecil Skeens; along with several great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A private family graveside service will be conducted on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Ralph Owens officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Holston Manor, especially the LPN'S Mona and Ruth Ann and hospice for the wonderful care that they have given our mother.
